In light of the WHS handicapping, should you scratch a hole while playing formats such as Stableford or Against bogey; do not record a DASH (-). This will affect your handicapping.
The maximum allowed for handicapping in any hole is a nett double bogey score.
Follow the guidelines below for an accurate reflection of your handicap in the WHS system.
How to mark unfinished holes holes (X scores)
A) If you have skipped playing a hole . Put an X followed by a nett par score.
B) If you have picked up on or around the green. Put an X followed by a most likely score if that happens to be less than a nett double bogey score.
C) If you leave the score blank (DASH), it will be considered as a Nett par for handicapping.
What is a Nett Par
a) If you have a stroke on a par 3.
The nett par score is 3 +1 = 4.
b) If you do not have a stroke on a par 3. The nett par score is 3.
What is a nett double bogey
a) If you have a stroke on a par 5.
The nett double bogey score is 5+2+1 = 8.
b) If you do not have a stroke on a par 5. The nett double bogey score is 5+2 = 7.
What is the most likely score
Say you are playing a PAR 5 hole and you reach the green on 5. Since you do not have a stroke you pick up the ball. You are 20 feet from the hole, Assuming you will have a 2 putt …
Your most likely score will be 5 + 2 =X7.
