Golf Club Local Rules

1. Rules of Golf 2022 are applicable.

2. Out Of Bounds:
Defined by White stakes/stones and white paint markings on the trees. Beyond the fence (Hole 1, 3, 4). The line joining the nearest inside points at the ground level of such stakes/stones or posts defines the boundary. A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies on or over the such line.

3. Integral part of the Course:
The following are an integral part of the course: The huts near the 1st Tee, 9th green, 11th Tee & 14th Tee.

4. Penalty areas are marked as YELLOW and RED.
Opposite margin relief is permissible for the Red Penalty Area left of the 12th and 13th fairway.

5. Clarifying Edge of the Bunker:
Sand spilling over the bunker is not part of the bunker.

6. Immovable Obstructions:
Plant guards, protective screens, electric posts and stay wires, water pipes, benches, advertisement boards, tee box boards, distance markers, fairway stones/stakes / yellow and red penalty area, Stakes /stones, stone/ rubber steps. OGC

7. Abnormal course conditions:
R 16.1

  • The relief under Rule 16.1 is extended to Damage by Animals/ hoof marks/ animal dung in the General area ball/swing/stance
    Relief from Damage by Animals/ hoof marks/ animal dung on the Putting
    Green is available under rule 16.1 ball/swing/stance/line of play.
    Additional Option: Putting Green: Hoof Marks can be repaired, or Relief allowed per R 16.1. Animal Dung is either a loose impediment or GUR at the player's option.
  • Seams of cut turf per R 16.
  • Exposed Tree Roots: Trees marked as RR, relief for ball/swing only.


8. Ground under repair:
White bounded lines/dotted lines mark the ground under repair

9. Cut drains:
All cut drains on the course, marked or not, are immovable obstructions, and relief is available under rule 16.1.

10. Drop Zones:
When taking relief in the designated drop zone, whether with or without penalty, a player (or partner) must drop the ball from knee height. The dropped ball must first strike the ground within the drop zone identified by a line on the ground. The line belongs to the drop zone.

11. Preferred Lies:
WHEN THE player's ball lies in a part of the "general area" cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by playing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from the relief area, one club length from the spot of the original ball.

Note: "General Area cut to fairway height is defined by blue stakes/stones. The line joining the nearest inside points at the ground level of such Stakes/stones defines the closely
mown area. A ball is outside the closely mown area when all of it is on or over such line.

12. Discontinuing play:
The following signals will be used:
Discontinue play immediately: One prolonged note of the siren.
Discontinue Play: Three consecutive notes of the siren, repeated.
Resume play: Two short notes of the siren, repeated.

Golf shall be played following the latest rules of golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A.

1. All tournaments shall be NETT events where the main trophy is for NETT. The order of choosing shall be as follows :

  • Nett Winner
  • Gross Winner
  • Nett Runner up
  • Gross Runner up


2. The following tournaments will be Gross events. The South India championship,The Dunlop shield or any Medal play tournament. The order of choice will be as follows.

  • Gross Winner
  • Nett Winner
  • Gross Runner up
  • Nett Runner up


3. DMDs ( Distance measuring devices ) will be allowed, provided no cellular connectivity exists.

4. GHIN is a compulsory requirement. Absence of which the entrant is eligible only for GROSS events.

5. Handicaps, as found in the GHIN every Thursday, shall apply to that weekend's tournament.

6.Caddies are advised not to go ahead of the player/group and should not proceed to search for the ball unaccompanied by the player. The 3 minute search time starts once the player and /or partners caddies begin searching for the ball. Repeated breach of this advisory will entail penalty under Rule 1-2, as decided by the committee which shall be final and binding.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rules:
First offence :- Match Play: Loss of Hole. Stroke Play: 2 Strokes.
Repeat offence will entail disqualification from the event.

7. All tournaments shall be NETT events where the main trophy is for NETT. The order of choosing shall be as follows :

  • Nett Winner
  • Gross Winner
  • Nett Runner up
  • Gross Runner up


8. The following tournaments will be Gross events. The South India championship and The Dunlop shield. The order of choosing will be as follows.

  • Gross Winner
  • Nett Winner
  • Gross Runner up
  • Nett Runner up
