Golf Captains Address

Warm wishes to you and your family. It gives me great pleasure to address members as we approach the summer meet 2025.

The Summer meet 2025 will commence from the 14th of March. Tournaments will take place on all weekends and conclude on the 4th of May with the captain’s night.

As already informed, there will be no bunkers in play and the course has been well marked so that the fairways to all holes irrespective of Par will start at 150 yards from the tee box. As a result, the USGA Course and Slope ratings have changed from 69.6 / 127 to 68.7 /124.

There will be an updated Terms of Competition detailing the various formats of play and eligibility criteria etc. on our notice board and the portal. I request everyone to go through them. Please do call me or any tournament Committee member for clarifications.

The greens are in an immaculate condition thanks to our Course Chairman Mr. V Manoharan and his team. Members are aware of the challenges faced by OGC and the progress made in overcoming them These have been well covered by our President in his earlier communique.

I am of the firm belief that golf must be self-sustainable and with the help of fellow golfers and sponsors we are heading in the right path.

This year we will introduce corporate tournaments with interesting formats of play. Corporate events as I write are BMW, AUDI. Firebird, AVT, Park Hyatt, Wenlock Downs and Cholamandalam amongst others. There will also be the Captain K Rajagopal – Friendship Cup which is an Inter club match play between Coimbatore Golf Club and Ootacamund Gymkhana Club.

Shortly the Summer meet program will be circulated, and I hope to see good number of golfers on the slopes at 2250 M in the hills.
